VOICE 16

We, humans, are not always wise.
We are the only creatures that kill each other.
We are the only creatures that has been doing one of the most stupid things called war.
We are the only creatures that destroy the global environment beyond repair.

Yet I think we are still very special.
We are the only creatures that can be moved to tears.
We are the only creatures that has created the most beautiful things called music.
And we are the only creatures that can communicate, and share our feelings,
even with someone on the other side of the world like you.

That's why I'm writing this now, hoping to reach someone who can share my feelings about "Living with War", and my desire for the true world peace.

"Don't do to others what you would not want yourself. Don't hate your country when being there, don't hate your home when being there." from The Analects of Confucius

It is a very simple and peaceful key to the peace. From now on, I truly pray for not a single death under the name of war and terrorism. Not just praying for it, I feel like I received an opportunity to start thinking what I can do for it.

Listening to Neil's songs, I realized I am also "Living With War", it is not only happening to others. I believe this light lit by Neil will never fade away. Thank you.

My dearest Neil Young.
The first album I bought was "After The Gold Rush".
Since then for 36 years, I've been buying your albums steadily.

I'm totally with you with your new album "Living With War".
Freedom is for all mankind equally.
It is not just for Americans.

I've been a fan of Neil Young since I was 18. It was a high time for the protest against Vietnam War. There is a song called "Ohio", and I recall it was about 4 people killed by the army trying to control the protest gathering. I didn't thoroughly understand the lyrics of the song, but I could sense his feeling. I also loved the song "Southern Man". I think he was singing about the barbaric people in the south. 35 years have passed since then. I'm really happy to know Neil still has the same heart. And also it is the privilege to be able to read the Japanese translation while listening to his songs. All the songs brought tears to my eyes.

Don't need no more lies

The same to Japan. Every day, TV sends out lies to us. Since the country is filled with lies, even an ordinary citizen like me needs to protest against "Conspiracy Law" in my blog everyday. Neil is speaking out loud in the country that is uglier in lies than Japan. I believe more and more Americans with conscience will follow him. To change Japan, I will keep speaking out loud, too. Thank you, Saori (for the translation of "Living With War").

From your friend in Japan:

I was born in 1960 in Japan.
My youth was spent dreaming about America.
New lifestyle, great music, and freedom.
America was my friend.
America was my precious friend.

I listened to many records.
I read some, too.
Huge courage, and some tears.
They all were delivered from America,
wrapped in dry paper.

Even a guy like me has now given up on you.
So many people support "The Crazy President".
They all know it is wrong, right?
I lost my precious friend
... America.

Where are you going?
Where are you going?

So many people hate each other.
So many people killed.

Nobody wants this.
Nobody wants this.

Where are you going?
Where are you going?

Even then, I didn't forget you.
Even then, I believed in you.
Because you are there, my dear friend.
Your scent still remains on me
...America.

My friend started to sing,
for the peace to come back in our hearts.
We will keep singing,
to find the true heart.
Because this is the wish for all.
Because this is the wish for all.

Where are you going?
Where are you going?
